John McEnroe will always be remembered for his epic encounter with Bjorn Borg in the 1980 Wimbledon Final, and that famous tie-break. The following year SuperMac defeated Bjorn Borg in the final to win the first of his three Wimbledon singles titles. John McEnroe dominated tennis during this era winning the singles title at the US Open on four occasions. His performance in the 1984 Wimbledon Final against Jimmy Connors was almost flawless. SuperMac also won five Men's Doubles titles at Wimbledon.
Nowadays John has excelled as a spokesperson for both the BBC and NBC but not so long ago he was renowned for his tantrums on court. In both rôles, he has never been afraid to express how he feels. |
